hummingbird at the bee balm
gone as soon as it arrives
sun-warmed berries bursting
eyes close in reverie
and the over-burdened tomatoes
break their bonds
to lean across the aisle
and consort with the kale
a forest appears
where once fingers of asparagus
had sprouted
cultivation makes nature no less wild
Your writing is always beautiful!

ReplyDeleteYour comment is the best! Thank you!!!
DeleteI love this. Clearly I need to stop by here much more often, especially on Thursday! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks! I'm glad you like it. :) Just so you know, I've fallen into the habit of alternating poetry thursday with wordless wednesday, so there won't be a poem every Thursday!
