The woods at first seem silent,
but listen:
The trees whisper and chatter
with the prodding of the wind,
and birds in the distance - and then closer - sing,
each with its own thread of song;
a branch creaks, an acorn falls,
the brook down the hill trills a percussive tune.
With eyes closed, observe
the symphony of the woods.
