a thousand mysteries {poetry thursday}

we have a tendency
to seek the extraordinary,
dismissing the mundane.
why revel at a puddle
when waterfalls roar,
tumbling down hillsides,
or stare at moss
when mighty redwoods
converse with the stars?
but even a single blade of grass
contains a thousand mysteries
and the stone you stubbed your toe on
is older than you can comprehend.
