poetree has been nominated!

Thanks to Hanna W. over at The Waystone Owl for nominating me for the Liebster Award!

It's a silly little thing being passed around the blogosphere, but I appreciate the kind gesture and the recognition it gains us smaller blogs.

The purpose of the Liebster Award is to recognize blogs with fewer than 200 followers. There are some rules:
  1. Thank and link back the person who nominated you
  2. List eleven facts about yourself
  3. Answer the eleven questions asked by the blogger who nominated you
  4. Nominate 9 bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers (you can't nominate the blogger who nominated you)
  5. Ask them eleven questions
  6. Let them know of their nomination!

11 Facts About Me:
  1. My favorite color is green.
  2. I want to have a farm someday. With draft horses.
  3. I have been to 8 foreign countries: Peru, Costa Rica, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Canada.
  4. My favorite food is Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Followed closely by dark chocolate.
  5. I love to bake. I'm trying to develop the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe (I think I'm getting close), and my grandmother taught me how to make pies, fudge, and maple candy.
  6. I often associate places with tastes, the way some people do smells. For example, Peru is fresh bananas or the spice ají, and my grandmother's house is Velveeta macaroni and cheese and Captain Crunch.
  7. I can finger-spell and count to 10 in American Sign Language. I'm also running out of facts about myself.
  8. I have a B.A. in Environmental Science with a minor in Journalism, but I have yet to use my major. :P
  9. I not only like trees, but all plants, and I really enjoy gardening (hence, I want a farm).
  10. I really like puzzles. Jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, 3D puzzles, brain teasers, word finds... but mostly jigsaw puzzles.
  11. I can't decide if my favorite season is spring or summer; I just really like warm, sunny days and green grass.

Hanna's Questions:

1. How long have you been blogging for?
Just over 2 years
2. Who are your top three recommended authors?
J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and Donita K. Paul
3. How long does it generally take you to read a book?
About 2 weeks, depending on how long it is and how busy I am.
4. What book are you dying to get your hands on right now?
None, oddly enough, though there are quite a few that I would very much like to read.
5. Are you the type of person that needs absolute silence to read a book?
Depends on how into the book I am and what the noise is, but yes, usually.
6. How many books are on your TBR list?
192, according to Goodreads. And it only ever gets longer.
7. Would you say your buying habits are acceptable, a little too much, or shocking?
I think they're pretty acceptable, though it's always tempting to buy a huge stack of books without regard to cost.
8. Which country would you most like to visit?
ALL OF THEM. I mean, um... My most recent obsession is Ireland, though I'd like to visit more countries in Latin America. And I'd like to make it to every continent eventually. :)
9. What was the last film you saw at the movies?
Frozen, and before that, August: Osage County.
10. What are your interests besides reading?
Baking, gardening, horseback riding, hiking, puzzles, poetry
11. What do you find the most challenging about blogging?
It takes a lot of time (because I'm a perfectionist), and when I don't have any book reviews or original poetry to post, it's hard to come up with content.

  9. And on a rainy day?

  1. Great list. I just followed two new blogs (though my mercenary self is just sitting her plotting how I can get them all to review my book).

  2. Oh, you've been everywhere...that is so awesome. I would love to see Paris. I would love beyond love to see Paris...*ahem* And chocolate chip cookies are probably the best invention of the world (although we call them "biscuits", but who cares? As long as there's dough and chocolate involved, it's awesome). I have 600 books on my TBR on Goodreads. That is WAY too many. I think I need to go in and cull a bit....save my sanity. Hehe, thanks soooo much for the tag, but yes, as you know, we kind of just did one and we DO have over 200 followers. But you're SO NICE TO TAG US. *hands copious amounts of dark chocolate*

  3. Happy to see you posted this, I got to learn much more about you! Totally jealous that you visited so many places. Where in Canada did you happen to visit? :)
Also, I'm not that much of an outdoorsy person but that's mostly because I don't get along with bugs :s Otherwise, I would totally love trees and plants much more.
I agree with your answer to the last question. :)

  4. Heidi: I'm glad you could find some new blogs to follow! That's exactly how this award is supposed to work (even if you are just trying to get reviews). :)

Cait: haha, yes, I've been a lot of places, though Eastern Europe was all one 3-week trip. I completely understand you not wanting to do yet another tag; I almost didn't do it myself for lack of time. :/ (thanks for the chocolate--even if it's virtual!)

Hanna: I'm not sure exactly where we were in Canada because it was over 10 years ago! My family was on vacation in Montana and crossed the border for a few days, so, somewhere north of Montana. :)
